The latest book published by Flatbed Splendor, Fibre Libre, tells the story of a group of people, learning about free software while learning to make paper. It is the first manifestation of the Open Edition project, which was founded in 2009 to explore the philosophy of FLOSS (Free/Libre/Open Source Software) through the medium of the artist’s book.
Open Edition advocates for the understanding and use of free software, particularly in the book arts community, by supporting relevant practice, scholarship and pedagogy. The Open Edition wiki is he organizational hub for the project, serving both as a means for experimentation and as a forum for discussion. After many monthsof painfully slow progress (and one very recent moment of complete panic, when I managed to delete everything), the wiki is up and running! Phew.
